Key Responsibilities of the Role

As a Physiotherapist specializing in Pilates, you will have a dynamic, multifaceted role focused on promoting patient recovery, injury prevention and overall physical well-being. Your main duties will include:

1. Conducting Comprehensive Physical Assessments

• Utilize standardized functional ability tests and specialized equipment to perform detailed mobility and health assessments within fully equipped, state-of-the-art treatment rooms.

2. Developing Customized Treatment and Pilates Programs

• Work collaboratively with clients to establish individualized rehabilitation goals following thorough clinical evaluations.

• Design physiotherapy treatment plans and Pilates-based exercise programs that align with patient recovery needs and personal health objectives.

3. Delivering Hands-On Physiotherapy Treatments

• Administer a variety of treatments including manual therapy, tailored therapeutic exercises and modern rehabilitation equipment usage.

• Use advanced technologies such as traction tables, therapeutic ultrasound devices, shockwave therapy systems and electrotherapy units to optimize recovery outcomes.

4. Leading Pilates-Based Rehabilitation Sessions

• Facilitate Pilates classes and private sessions, ensuring that rehabilitation principles are seamlessly integrated into every program.

• Carefully instruct patients on proper technique to enhance mobility, support injury recovery and promote strength development.

5. Integrating Pilates Into Broader Physiotherapy Care

• Incorporate adaptable Pilates exercises into treatment regimens for patients at all fitness levels and stages of physical health.

• Monitor patient technique and modify exercises as necessary to suit specific rehabilitation stages and physical conditions.

6. Monitoring and Adjusting Treatment Progress

• Regularly assess client progress against initial goals and adjust both physiotherapy and Pilates programming as necessary to ensure optimal recovery outcomes.

7. Collaborating with Multidisciplinary Teams

• Engage in regular communication and case discussions with a diverse healthcare team to ensure a cohesive, patient-centered care experience.

8. Maintaining Detailed and Accurate Patient Records

• Utilize electronic medical charting software to meticulously document patient histories, treatment plans, session notes, progress reports and discharge summaries.

• Communicate effectively with third parties such as ICBC, WSBC and private insurance providers regarding patient treatment statuses and billing requirements.

Qualifications and Required Skills

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and skill requirements:

Educational and Licensing Requirements

• Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy or a closely related field.

• Hold full registration and licensing with the appropriate professional regulatory body, specifically the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia (CPTBC).

Pilates Certification (Mandatory)

• Certification in Pilates instruction is essential.

• Preferred certifications include:

  • PMA (Pilates Method Alliance) Certification

  • Stott Pilates Certification

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of 1 year experience as a practicing Physiotherapist is preferred, although new graduates with exceptional training and motivation will also be considered.
